Frequently asked questions

Everything below describes how PortAnnotate actually works today. If an answer does not cover your situation, contact us.

Applying

How do I apply to an opportunity?

Browse open roles at /opportunities/, open the one you want, and use the apply action on its page. You need an account first — the same profile is reused for every application, so you fill it in once.

Can I apply to the same posting twice?

No. One application per candidate per posting is enforced at the database level, not just in the form — a duplicate submission cannot slip through.

Why does a posting say I am not eligible?

Some postings are restricted to a specific country or language. When you do not qualify, the page names the exact requirement you are missing, so you can tell whether it is worth updating your profile.

Your account

Do I need an account to browse open roles?

No. Every open posting is publicly visible. An account is only required when you apply, so you can track that application afterward.

What does registration ask for?

Your name and email, then a profile with your resume, country, address, and up to two languages. The country and language you set are what postings check eligibility against.

Can I sign in with Google?

Where Google sign-in is enabled for this deployment, "Continue with Google" appears on the login and signup pages. It is optional — email and password work the same way either way.

Resumes and documents

What resume formats can I upload?

Upload it from your profile page. The upload is size-limited and checked against its declared file type before it is accepted.

Who can see my resume?

Only you and the staff reviewing your application. Resumes are never served as public files — every download is checked against the signed-in user first.

Will I be asked for an ID document?

For some postings, yes — our recruiting team may add identity or verification documents to your application folder as part of vetting. Those live in the same access-controlled storage as resumes, viewable only by you and authorized staff.

Tracking your application

How do I check my application status?

From /applications/. Each application shows its current stage — applied, in review, accepted, or rejected — and a timeline of how it got there.

Will I be notified when something changes?

Yes. Every status change creates a notification in your inbox (the bell icon in the header).

Can I withdraw an application?

Yes, from the application page, as long as it has not already reached a final decision. Withdrawing is your action alone — staff cannot do it on your behalf.

How the opportunities work

Is this a marketplace with multiple employers?

No. PortAnnotate is a single organization — every posting is our own project, not a listing from an outside company. There is no employer directory to browse.

Are these roles remote?

Yes, every posting is remote. Some are restricted to candidates in a particular country or who speak a particular language; the posting always says so.

Privacy and security

What happens to my data if I do not get selected?

It is kept as your account and application history so you can see past outcomes and apply again without re-entering everything. See the Privacy Policy for how to ask for it to be removed.

Where can I read the full privacy and cookie policy?

The Privacy Policy covers what we collect and why; the Cookie Policy covers exactly what is stored in your browser and how to change your choice.

Questions about applying to one specific posting also appear on the opportunities page and on every posting's own page. For data and cookie questions specifically, see the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
